On the way.....

We were out on a club walk today, and did eight miles over near West Linton. We had to get past this herd of cows, we were on a right of way but farmers are allowed to graze their animals there and unfortunately there were a lot of calves, which makes the mums rather protective, and therefore quite nervous.

The guys in front formed a line of four, and we all walked in a big bunch, very slowly, heading for the corner where the gate was, and allowing them plenty of room to get out of our way. It worked, although there was a lot of noise from the cows, which was quite frightening. The wee calves hung in there beside their mothers and did what they were told.

We also had to contend with horses on our trail, although they were no problem, as they are used to being handled.

The weather was great, forecast had been for sun and showers, but we were lucky and the showers stayed away until we were travelling home.
