A different type of spring flower

Took a wander into Edinburgh this morning and the ironwork of these railings caught my eye. Must have walked past here hundreds of times before, but hadn't noticed they formed a flower.

Think maybe railings and gates on my mind as we just got an estimate to have a gate replaced at our cottage and it was rather expensive, so we're currently 'thinking it over'.
