Lest We Forget.....
Anzac Day here in New Zealand (Australia & New Zealand Army Corp) today.... a public holiday, a day to remember those men and women who served in First & Second World Wars, and more recently Vietnam & others. To remember those that lost their lives for their country.
The sun shone throughout the country I understand. All shops are shut until 1 pm. Dawn parades and services held in large cities through to small towns.....my Dad served in the Second World War and returned but many didn't.....have a look back a year and you will see him :)
These poppies have been placed on a memorial at a small country settlement called Woodbury. Doug and I went out that way for a drive and had a lovely lunch sitting in the warm sunshine.....the autumn weather has and continues to be fantastic!
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
Rainie
