Mai Po

My friend had been wanting to go to Mai Po nature reserve ever since her lecturer back in uni told wonderful stories about it, so we took a long tube-ride out to the New Territories and got a taxi out to the reserve.

As soon as the taxi driver had left, a torrential downpour started and we realised we couldn't look round because apparently you need a permit, nor could we stand inside because some visiting kids were having a lesson. We huddled under a shelter for a bit, went to look at 2 ponds and called for a taxi back. A bit of a fail then (though I did see a jumping fish).

We made up for it in the evening by eating good nachos and watching some stand-up comedy.
