The Box Self Portrait
Today saw the end of the IB (International Baccalaureate) Visual Arts course. Concluding with the exam and final exhibition. A great occasion for those involved and their proud art teacher.
Here stands The Box - the camera which produces most of the images on here. Left alone for 90 minutes this evening it created this self portrait whilst stood in the sink on a tripod.
Last Christmas Seung Eun gave me my Christmas present in this box (photographs of our trip to India). On the front in pink marker it faintly still reads ''To Andy Brown'' (for some reason she insists on using my full name), on the bottom corner there is a small cut out piece of black card on which she drew some eyes and a mouth. It kind of resembles a cat, but its exact species is still unknown. It makes me smile when I see it - which is often the sought after reaction when in front of a camera. The box has travelled extensively in its time as a camera, following me most places I go. It has some electrical tape on its top left corner from an earlier accident which meant it was no longer light tight. Luckily it wasn't serious and could be saved. LONG LIVE THE BOX! HURRAH!
