Marks and Spencer's Penny Bazaar, Newcastle

Popped into Newcastle earlier today. What a wet day - constant rain all day and freezing cold. Glad to get home. Hope its warmer and drier in London.

My blip shows The Marks and Spencer Original Penny Bazaar in the Grainger Market. It is the last surviving example of the shops that gave birth to a legend in retailing. It was Michael Marks who opened the first Penny Bazaar in the Kirkgate open air market in Leeds in 1834, with the motto "Don't ask the price - it's a penny!" This stall in the Grainger Market is always very popular. It tends to sell a lot of Sale items.

Must get on with my packing. I hate packing so I have been putting it off. I go to London tomorrow for a long weekend.
