Coalhouse Fort

This fort was built about 150 years ago to fortify the Thames Estuary from "French Seaborne invasion"! It is heavily fortified and was even fitted with anti-aircraft guns during WW2
Strangely, this side of the fort faces inland. Obviously someone anticipated the Channel Tunnel as far back as the mid nineteenth century .....
