The Santa Rita Flower

This flower bloomed on one of these purple cacti. Not mine, which I photographed the other day, but a full grown one down the street. Actually, it's a spined relative of the same cactus.

I got it late in the day and it wasn't at it's fullest bloom anymore but it was the best photo I could get. I think it still gives you the idea of how beautiful and delicate these cactus flowers are.

Tomorrow it will be wilted and unrecognizable. Such fleeting beauty in the desert.
