This weather we're having (at least in the West Country) is brilliant. It's proper weather but I would swap it for much lighter and sustained rain that could charge the aquifers. This stuff just disappears to the sea much too quickly (and it's our bloody fault as well - this island has been so warm and wet for all of human history that we've become extremely good at expediting rainwater's journey off the land; canalisation of rivers, huge stormwater drains, vast swathes of concrete etc.).
At Newent today the population of Sparrows were having a ball; disappearing into the thick hedges during the downpours and squalls and then drying-off/ warming-up in the sun and wind. This little lady was one of the few that let me get anywhere near enough for a blip.
Hope all are well and safe if living near any swollen rivers.
