Scene setting

I'm sitting here, windswept wet, miserable street in a soggy town in chilly Britain. And I am picturing a hot, dry, desert kind of place somewhere in the Southern US of A. East or west, I'm not sure of that yet. Why US? Because sandy, hot, dry places and cowboy boots do not go with Southern England. And neither do Greyhound busses.
