Inspired by coppicing
We visited Farfield Mill and enjoyed the varied crafts represented there. The Coppice association North West had mounted an exhibition of traditional items made by the coppicer.
There are about 150 coppicers working in this part of the country, and their skills are beautiful in their simplicity. I had never seen these Gypsy flowers before, but Michael said that he remembered the gypsies selling them in Kent. It reminded me of the gypsy pegs my Mother used to buy from gypsies at her front door, made of hazel, and bound with a thin strip of tin can fastened with a small nail.
