My Dog
Today was the start of Art in Bloom at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. It is a wonderful event that draws lots of people to the museum. It showcases the talent of floral artists whose work will be on view next to the works of art that inspired them.
This photo is taken in front of "Your Dog" by Yoshitomo Nara. It is a large fiberglass white dog with a red nose. It is one of my favorite pieces! The floral artist decided to do an exhibit that was inspired by her dog. She said that her dog was a poodle, bichon mix, who is very fluffy. If you look closely you can see that she has used sunflowers for her eyes, and various pieces of natural fibers and feathers for her hair as well as flowers. I tried to get a good picture of the whole exhibit, but my iPhone wasn't up to the job!
There were many other inspiring pieces, but the dog one just hit home. The other neat one was a floral piece that was made to look like a ceramic Delft shoe.
Have a good Thursday. Friday is almost here!
