Our City of Literature

Scott Monument

Today we were very pleased to lead a tour group of international journalists around Edinburgh, along with the fab crime writer Lin Anderson, pointing at things and telling the story of our city of stories. This is the Scott Monument, part of our whistle stop tour of the New Town. Built for Sir Walter Scott, it has 64 statues on the exterior and stands 60 metres high on Princes Street - the largest monument in the world to a literary figure. If you climb the 287 steps to the top, the view is quite something.

Looks like a sunny spring day, but we spent much of it dodging storm clouds. Proper Edinburgh weather!
