My Life in My Hands

Ghost Bridge

Dismantled bridge at Carlton Marsh near Snaith, south of Selby.

Snaith is an unassuming little village(?) with a history. Located by the River Aire, there used to be a major port here. It was the building of the Selby Canal, followed by the Aire and Calder Navigation, that bypassed these coils of river, providing a fast route to Leeds.

The residents of Snaith think they live in a town (it looks like a village to me). Maybe these long lost roots/routes are why.
