In passing

There are at least a dozen painting exhibitions happening in the city at the moment. Wanted to visit one, and ended up choosing one with paintings by young Afghani women artists.

The paintings were brilliant, oil on canvas. The framing was ornate, and the themes were deeply emotional. It was mainly about the injustice and violence against women in Afghanistan. For young girls, some of whom were not even out of their teens, to paint such disturbing images with deep sadness or anger or injustice is an indicator of how difficult life would perhaps be for them. I could go on to describe some of the paintings, but I think I will stop here and leave the memories of the paintings on my mind.
