Thistle Down

By Ethel

Some People Say

When people say,
There is no God.
When they shake their head,
Instead of a nod.

When death is the end,
With no God on high.
And the knowing of people,
Will cease...when they die.

For all of earth life,
There'll be no reward.
No matter the trials,
Or when it was hard.

They say...all your family,
Forget them...you must.
That the grave takes you in,
And turns you to dust.

How sorrowful it will be,
If you believe like some men.
That all will be lost,
And you'll not live again.
