Mallard's nest
Straight from the camera. I went on a bird walk today with a Portland Metro naturalist and we inadvertently flushed a female mallard from her nest. The nest was visible from the trail and since all I had was my point and shoot I leaned over and snapped this quick shot before we moved along.
We saw quite a few species, but nothing too unexpected. I saw a rufous hummingbird and it is the first time I have seen a male so decked out in his spring finery.
We got rained on just a bit, but it was decent for most of the morning.
Now it is time for laundry and a little reading.
Happy blipping!
