Lake District Climbing

With my dissertation finally handed in yesterday I was super psyched to get some fresh air, finally! So with a stellar forecast Neil and I headed down to the Lakes for the day.

We started at Iron Crag which was a nice little retreat and the two guys also there made for decent company, it was cool to see If Six Was Nine but I can't say I was massively inspired to get on that section of the cliff, it looks very uninviting!

We did a number of routes which were all great but I wasn't feeling massively keen on leading anything as the routes are all very Lakes-y and insecure/balancy so did a bunch of seconding which was good to get back into the rhythm. After forgetting there was a weird fuel shortage in England where we thought we might be stuck overnight we had to head back to Penrith to get some fuel before making our way back to a tiny crag near Bencathro which had a nice (but very soft) VS, and two E2's which we despatched as the light failed. Great to get a bit of leading done, not sure VS slab was the best way to get the head into gear but it was very soft and cracking friction.

A million miles better than writing dissertation anyway! Yeeheuw!
