Woolsthorpe Manor
I'd agreed to give a talk for children and their parents at Woolsthorpe Manor, home of one Isaac Newton - surely somewhat of a hero for any physics student. It was quite an honour, talking in the same building he'd grown up in - near the room he split light in, and of course the apple tree. It was part of a stargazing event, but the fact it had been tipping it down all day didn't bode well for attendance. However when we arrived it was firmly overcast, but at least dry.
I hadn't factored with an ever encroaching bout of flu that had started to develop a couple of days ago though, but loaded with pain killers and with eager faces watching me I gave variations on the same talk to 4 different audiences of children and parents, adapting it to the detected fidget factor!
The evening came to the end, and so did the pain killer effects, so home to bed and firmly collapse with a swollen throat. Still - its safely done, and went very well by all accounts.
