Candlelit performance in Dunblane cathedral

I have just returned from an extraordinary evening of a performance in Russian of a profoundly moving choral work.

The Rosenethe Singers, a Dunblane based choir, sang The Vespers by Rackmaninov in Dunblane cathedral.

This is a rarely performed work and international tenor Andrew Dickinson was the soloist.
To add to its theatricality it was performed by candlelit at sunset.

Even though I was early, a good quarter of an hour before the start, the event was sold out and I joined 30 others all hoping to get a seat at the last minute.

Eventually we did get seated thanks to extra chairs.

It was one of those musical evenings that will be forever etched in my memory.
