Garrison Savannah Racing

A day at the races in Barbados. The racecourse itself is the old parade ground of the British garrison building which was occupied by British troops until 1906. In the background as the horses race by is the garrison building itself. Another historical landmark as this is also where in 1966 the British Union flag was lowered and the Barbarian flag raised to mark independence on 30th November of that year. A rather unsuccessful betting day but enjoyable nonetheless. The journey home provided even more speed adventure with ?a fast ride on an overcrowded Reggae bus.
