Oh Lonesome me!

A glorious day, blue blue sky, sunshine & warm. Took doggies out for a long plod along one of the forrest tracks down to the OLd Poltalloch which is 3 miles across the hill by road from Kilmartin with stunning views over Loch Craignish to Jura.
Once the home of the famous Malcolms of Poltalloch . In 1799 George Malcolm planned a new farmhouse & steading with a coach-house but the project was abandoned ( no wonder it as the back end of nowhere!) It went over to Ormaig but the location is stunning. There is still a fantastic house complex made of stone and oak there though its far too isolated for me. The Malcolms then built Poltalloch House in 1849 and was their family home until 1957. Much of their wealth came from sugar plantations in Jamaica and some say the slave trade too (allegedly) Im told there are still people living in Jamaica that have Malcolm connections. It too is now a ruin (death duties etc) I will blip it some other time
It was a fantastic walk and dogs are now sleeping at my feet.
The blip is of a tree on the way back towards Kilmartin and beleive it or not I made the effort to get out of the car to take this snap!
Still enjoying the warm sunshine pouring in the veranda with the door open. Im saying all this to make a certain Ms Chadwick green with envy of course! But its all true so there! There is also a connection with the famous Lillie Langtry to Poltalloch House and even more interesting local knowledge about how the Malcolm family (allegeldy) gained even more land but that as they say is another story but google the lady for yourself!
Happy blipping all
