last day :(

Last full day with my family. This is me and Marie-Claire, my youngest niece. She is such a wee dote; always smiling and so happy.

We got our stuff together and headed over to mum and dad's for lunch, with a stop-off at the Cave Coopérative in Nyons for some last-minute presents.

Mum had made salad, quiche and had lots of other goodies for lunch. We worked up an appetite by looking for wild asparagus up the back of mum and dad's house before we sat down to eat. It's so hard to spot; in fact at one point, my dad was standing with me saying he could see four stalks of it right in front of us and I couldn't see a thing! Once you get your eye in though, it's much easier to find - apparently!

I made a quick omelette with the asparagus we'd found and we had it for starters. Delicious.

After lunch, we went for a walk to the ground my dad has been given to garden. It's a massive area of land (about half the size of a football pitch) for him to grow on - just down by the river in the village. I can't wait to help with it when I'm over in the summer. The produce he'll get from it should be abundant.

We headed back to the house and rewatched the montage mum had made of dad for his birthday party. We all had a few tears in our eyes, including my dad himself.

Carrie and the girls headed off (I cried, again!) and mum, dad and I went back inside for the evening - it was bloody freezing!

Dad and I made a Dundee cake - his new favourite recipe - and then we had a bit of dinner before playing a last few games of Boggle and heading to bed.

Just before I went to sleep, I got an update on the two poorly chicks from my sister - wee Trevor was flourishing, but it wasn't looking good for the other one :(
