Rags of light

Top of the world Ma...

Day 2 of the St Cuthbert's Way was 17 miles from Jedburgh to Kirk Yetholm.

We were aiming for a place called Morebattle for our lunchtime stop in the hope we could pick up some supplies from the village shop. We arrived at 12.55 (it shut at 1pm) only to be told 'we haven't got any refreshments here'. It was a dead ringer for the 'local shop for local people' in the League of Gentlemen. Luckily there was a rather drab pub where we got a cheese sandwich.

Today took us to the halfway point of the walk and the highest hill - Wideopen Hill. Here I am taking in the fantastic 360 views, including across the Cheviot Hills.

Kirk Yetholm is also the finish point for the Pennine Way and has a fantastic pub. Malt whisky and game pie for dinner made up for the lunchtime experience!
