The Fifth Buddhist Precept...The Buddha Bar

The Fifth Buddhist Precept states: "I undertake the training rule to abstain from fermented and distilled intoxicants which are the basis for heedlessness."

This Buddha adorns the bar counter where I occasionally partake of a beer or two on my way home. He's supposed to bring good fortune but he seldom does according to the proprietors. Maybe his Fifth Precept has put him in the paradoxical situation of bringing good fortune to a drinking establishment. Then again maybe it's all a pile of superstitious bunkum.
