Old wrinkles

Whilst stretching the legs at Calke Abbey and looking for something interesting to photograph I spied some old fungi that had started to dry out.

The shapes that have formed remind me of images taken through microscopes. The sunlight, although bright, helped to provide some backlight and add further interest.
