The Wall
This is one corner of a wall that encloses a Victorian Walled Garden next to our offices. It was rebuilt a couple of years ago as part of a restoration project. The new bricks were handmade and laid using lime mortar not cement based. Unfortunately the walled garden is seldom open which got me thinking about the symbolism of walls. They are a boundary or border, they stand for freedom or repression, they provide shelter and privacy, they are symbols of power, wealth, status and exclusion. It all depends on which side you stand.
