The dotted line

"Lolita, light of my life, fire of my loins. My sin, my soul. Lo-lee-ta: the tip of the tongue taking a trip of three steps down the palate to tap, at three, on the teeth. Lo. Lee. Ta. She was Lo, plain Lo, in the morning, standing four feet ten in one sock. She was Lola in slacks. She was Dolly at school. She was Dolores on the dotted line.[...]"

The opening lines of Vladimir Nabokov's Lolita. When I started university we had to do translation exercises and this was one of them. I went on to read the book and liked the way it was written, content, well, I don't quite know what I want to say about that. But when this snail went along the pavement this morning the quote came back to me.

Work more than busy but I seem to be surviving. Hope tomorrow goes well.
