Don't do it!
When it rains a lot, as it did today, there are always loads of snails all over this wall and on the road. Most of them end up getting squashed by pedestrians and I spend an awful lot of time putting the as yet unsquashed ones back on the wall so they can get back to the safety of the grassy area from which they came.
What I didn't realise is that it takes them a painstaking 20 minute climb to actually get over that fence thing and onto the wall! Their shells are too big to go under the fence but I hadn't thought about that before. The poor things have no idea what nasty fate waits them on the road.
I wonder what it is that makes them leave the nice, safe grassy area when it's wet.
I should probably worry more about the fact that my neighbours think I am a total freak for apparently taking photos of a wall on a Friday night in the pouring rain than I do I about these things but hey ho.
