ARNOLD and BERTHA'S BUTLER'S TRAY

A while back I blipped a detail of this tray. Being unexpectedly at home for the day I was desperate and blipped the whole of it.

It was a wedding present to G's grandparents in 1915; Arnold John Deller, Keeper of the King's Wine Cellar (George V), and Bertha Woolliams. We have been told it is made from oak from the Sandringham estate, though the family ties are from the Windsor area. I have images of Arnold John clutching bottles of claret between his knees as the servant's coach hurtles between Windsor and Sandringham!

Unfortunately the tray's legs did not survive but it is a very treasured heirloom.

Even though we do not have a Butler.
