Bonus dog

On most of our holidays we discover a bonus dog, which is a dog that befriends us for a little while. This one ambushed at Skipness castle on Kintyre as we were walking up the drive. He's an Irish wolfhound, I think, and he pushed his way between F and I, and leaned on us for a pat before tearing away and returning. He kept us company until we reached the castle. He gave us a forlorn look, which I photographed, then turned away - he's obviously not allowed in the castle.

F and I got up early and had an easy cycle to the ferry terminal at Port Ellen. There we met two other mad people - a couple from London who'd been cycling around Islay. We had breakfast on the ferry together and chatter about cycling, Islay, London, cats... they were great company.

F and I cycled over Kintyre and caught the ferry to Arran, where we stayed in Lochranza again. There were deer in the campsite and we didn't get much sleep that night due to the belllowing of the stags.
