My life, my lens

Lake Louise

We had a relatively short drive today as we were travelling from Golden to Banff. Our major stop of the day was Lake Louise which has become symbolic of the Canadian mountain scene. It is situated at the base of impressive glacier-clad peaks and is about 2.5 kilometres long and 90 metres deep.

The last time I visited the lake it was full of sparkling blue waters glimmering in the sunshine. It couldn't have looked more different today! The lake was completely frozen and covered in snow and it looked like a winter wonderland. None of the pictures I took did it justice so Ive settled on a pic of one of the only parts of the lake that wasn't frozen. We had a great time walking around and enjoying the snow (well Matt enjoying throwing snowballs at me and the lake) and taking in the scene.

We were soon back on the road and heading to Banff. Due to the decline in temperature we decided to book in to a hotel for the next two nights rather than stay in the camper van. We are staying at the Fairmont Banff Springs so a bit of a change from our cozy little van!
