Of a' the airts...
This weather vane in Crieff reminded me of that Burns poem, perhaps because I saw the "west" indicator at the same time as seeing the cone.
But it was MacGonagall , according to the above Wikipedia entry at least , who celebrated the town with the (as ever) immortal lines:
"Ye lovers of the picturesque, if ye wish to drown your grief,
Take my advice, and visit the ancient town of Crieff."
As to what this particular picturesque sight might tell us about the outcome of today's local elections there and across the country - well, we will only know tomororw. Today's task is to get the vote out, which I am now away to help to do.
