Night Time Munchies

I think I preferred it when the weather forcaster was not always right :(  They said it would rain till late afternoon, and it did.  So we spent most of the day at home, but forced ourselves to go out at four, if only because we needed to eat out!

It was still raining but with promise of easing off, so we headed out to Tokyo station.  This is the second largest station in Tokyo and not for nothing is it known as Tokyo Station City (I think in Japan the word City is used to describe most buildings/complexes that comprise shops,restaurants and other functions i.e. Mall to use an Americanism)

The aim was twofold, get something to eat and buy some goodies to take home as presents.  No problem.

Ate in a great Japanese pub/eatery, Noriko ordered me a starter of whole miniature 'glow in the dark' squid (firefly squid see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fire_fly_squid) , complete with tentacles and eyes - yum.  I like most Japanese food with the exception of wasabi (similar to strong horseradish they tend to put on sushi) which I find blows the top of my head off!  The meal was washed down with Japanese beer.

After the station we took a walk back through Ginza, this time the lights were on.  Unfortunately Tokyo is going through an energy saving period following last year's earthquake so its not as lit up as it could have been.  Still pretty impressive though.

Unfortunately the photos I took were OK, but difficult conditions, rain, night, etc meant they weren't as good as I would have liked.  This one is OK, it shows an upmarket confectionery shop on Ginza Street with a client about to leave in a taxi.  The gent by the car was very deferential to the customer, and the doorman further back is straining to see who it is.  Just a blip in time !

We are promised a better day tomorrow so hopefully we're off to Tokyo Sea Life Park
