Arthur's dart board
This really is tourist stuff. The Great Hall in Winchester is the City's second biggest tourist attraction and endlessly photographed. However, from what I've seen, it always seems to be shot head on down its length towards the Round Table. Fair enough, that really is the compelling view of the Hall, but I went there knowing I wanted to try something different and this was the shot I had in mind. If you want to see what the whole thing looks like, link through here
The Great Hall is marketed as being the "first and finest" 13th century hall in England and it's a stonking affair, build by Edward III as part of the palace laid down by William the Conqueror (the palace/castle was destroyed by the Roundheads in the Civil War so there's practically nothing else left of it). But in these ancient seats of power, I don't think there's anything amiss with a bit of irreverence and I like the idea of the round table being a giant dart board, or a flying saucer about to spin off the wall and whizz in and out of the pillars. So here it is.
Thank you to everyone who helped me get on the Spotlight last night - I feel faintly embarrassed because I know I got there entirely though your kindness, which itself was brought on by my moaning. Oh dear must try that again! I'm feeling a lot happier today, beginning to sense freedom looming for a week - hooray! Hope you're all focused happily on the weekend too
