Hokianga Harbour
We haven't ventured far since we moved here, but the work on the house is nearing completion and the weather is good so we went to the West coast. It is only just over an hours drive and we visited Rawene, where there is a ferry across the Hokianga inlet and the great Boatshed cafe. We the went on to the coast proper and this shot shows Hokianga Harbour (natural harbour ) and the breakers at the entrance to the Tasman sea. It's a beautiful area and a few miles down the road is Waipoua Forest where the giant Kauri, including Tane Mahute the oldest tree in NZ, can be seen. Quite a nice days round trip.
