Boghall Glen
I couldn't face the gym this morning, so went for a hillwalk/geocaching trip instead. Having done some of the Pentland hills from the north, I took the car round the south side and started from the Castlelaw Hillfort. It dates from around 1000BC and was probably also used to store grain for the Roman Army later. You can go in and crawl into a circular room, all lit by skylights. The geocache was on the other side of the hill.
Next was Castlelaw hill itself, the path passes the top of Boghall Glen from where this picture was taken. I think that it sums up the day, views of afar, but nearby plants etc also.
Found the Castlelaw geocache, then climbed Allermuir from the south - amazing how Edinburgh pops up from the rural landscape. Re-found that geocache - it's at the bottom of a scree slope under a random rock - NOT my idea of fun geocaching :-(( I needed a code from it for the location of a third cache.
All done, back over to Castlelaw farm and back home for a welcome shower and lunch.
