Suicide Harlequin

The main event of the day was a hospital appointment with Georgia, the lovely nurse practitioner. My surgery was successful and she feels I am making a good recovery. There will be follow up tests and scans over the coming months and years, but essentially my cancer is gone. She told me that main reason that the success rate in dealing with colorectal cancer is now so high is because people are overcoming their embarrassment and seeing their GPs much more readily so that early diagnosis and treatment is proving a life saver. I had none of the risk factors associated with the disease - it seems I was just unlucky, so it can happen to anyone.
On a lighter note, on my way home I called into a small local nature reserve near the hospital. There wasn't much wildlife around on another gloomy day, but I spotted a harlequin ladybird on a rustic sculpture. You can see a close-up of it here, but I preferred the bigger picture.
Called in at the continental market in the city before returning home, and bought one or two little treats.
