The Count
The big day is finally here... After months of work we got to find out if it all paid off - and it did!
Alexander was very good, hardly any shouting or complaining (largely achieved by stuffing biscuits in his mouth). He got a biscuit from the press pack too... I must buy the Evening Times tomorrow! He wore his rosette with pride and was admired by various aquaintances.
But we all remembered Daddy was the star of the day. It's a complicated voting system, the votes were read by scanner and there was a lot of talk of it being done within seconds, but we were still there 3 hours before the ward was called. Daddy got through in the first round - in fact, he got the most votes (more than 250 more than the next candidate) and his running mate Fariha also got in. One of the ex-Labour councillors won as well (the only non-mainstream party candidate in the whole city), so the SNP only got one, despite standing three.
Hopefully we get a few days rest before induction begins. Apparently he gets a memory stick encrypted to military grade. Well I never. I think the next five years are going to be interesting....
