We'll gather lilacs in the spring

I attended the dodenherdenking (remembrance) ceremony in town tonight.

Always moving, tonight was no exception.

A lot of beautiful wreaths were laid (the chap in the photo was laying one on behalf of the Turkish community)

The most touching moment for me came about when members of the public could pay their respects; an elderly lady walked up with a simple posy of the most gorgeous lilacs with plain old aluminium foil wrapped around the stalks.
