Stretching the Limit
Last time I was in Enniskillen, in County Fermanagh, I had dinner with the editor of the local paper and her husband, after which we adjourned to the town's renowned William Blake pub.
Halfway down the road, the belt on my pants snapped (too many chips) and I was left fearing arrest for indecent exposure. No problem, said Lady Editor, who whipped the belt from her jeans and passed it over.
Gratefully, I anchored my pants, although breathing suddenly became a struggle. Drinking Guinness was even more of a challenge, which I eventually resolved by slyly loosening the belt and holding up my trousers every time I swallowed a mouthful . . .
I like to think today's picture also has an interesting tale . . . Perhaps this very large wedding limo has dropped in at the Blake to collect a hapless groom still celebrating his stag night and take him to the church. . . However, I'm sure that's not the case at all . . .
