Government House

Perfect Autumn morning in Canberra. This is a pic of Government nestled in amongst the trees. It looks unassuming and peaceful under a beautiful blue sky.

My grandfather was a public servant who worked there for many years, many years ago. He lived in one of the cottages on the grounds and told many tales about the place, particularly the politicians and people of importance and the glamourous parties, but as children, the tales of Government House that kept as enraptured were ghost stories, that he swore to be true... Yes, that's right, the place is said to be haunted by a young indigenous man who swallowed a diamond and his remains are buried somewhere on the grounds.

Now that's a true story - believe it or not.
