Twin suns
This is the shot I wanted to be home in time for yesterday. Today we were blessed with another clear day, with a warm sun in a blue sky. Even as the sun was setting there was little cloud about, and the sun was far too bright to look at. Some time ago, I chanced upon the observation that the sun reflects in the glass doors leading onto the deck at the apartment, and that in one position it is seen reflected both in the closed pane, and the pane of the door which is open.
The different angles of reflection shift one sun to behind the palm frond. Because that reflection is being seen through the intervening glass of the open door, the plants are shown as being on the far side of the glass balustrade.
Or, perhaps we briefly had two suns, here in Auckland this evening.
The perigree (almost) full moon was able to be seen from the street, tinged with colour from the setting sun. You can see it in my blipfolio.
