Chicken in the woods

I've been watching this specimen of Chicken in the woods (Laetiporus sulphureus) since it emerged a couple of weeks ago. It seems to be growing at a phenomenal rate with the largest bracket now about 25cm across. Its texture is remarkably like rubber and the brackets vary in colour from peachy yellow to orange (especially on the underside and the rim). Its growing on the remains of an oak trunk that collapsed in the winter and which is full of brown rot which I assume is caused by the fungus before the fruiting body appears. The tree trunk is in a water filled ditch so its rather difficult to photograph the fungus. The name apparently comes from the fact that it tastes like chicken (not something I'm planning to test).
