Urban Heron

Ewell, Surrey

We are staying in Ewell with my Auntie and this heron was stood looking across a little ditch to a busy road as we walked past. It knew that we could not cross it and just looked on as I took this picture from about 10 feet away. Only when I jumped on to the low wall on my side of the ditch did it fly off. The trees in the park behind are so verdant at the moment - they make a lovely backdrop.
