Birthday picnic lunch.
Although Mum's birthday is not until the 7th we went through today with a picnic lunch. She enjoyed the surprise and the company. It was a lovely morning and we got out into the garden with Euan who had a great time. Auntie Fifi, Uncle Lyall and Uncle Andy chased him and played "Tig". Gran enjoyed all the fun.
This is some of us taken in Mum's back garden (this is only a quarter of it!) John and I were speaking to Mum's neighbours Gavin and Evelyn and Gavin made us laugh by saying he had never felt so guilty in all his life since he had lived next door to Mum. She is always busy , does everything (apart from the grasscutting) herself and is still driving at 87 minus a day! She has an old house built in 1821 which is not easy to keep but she will never move. She has stayed in the same village 60 years. She has wonderful neighbours who keep an eye on her VERY discreetly!!
She was brought up on a local farm where her brother and nephew still live. She is the middle one of five. Sadly, her older brother Jimmy and younger sister Grace are now deceased. Grace had the same birthday as Mum but was two years younger. Everyone used to get them mixed up because they looked so much alike.
She really does so well and is so proud of her grandchildren and of course, wee Euan, her first great grandchild. Long may she have the health to continue to enjoy life and the family.
