Vanity Projects

I have seen so many great blips posted already today that I am not very inclined to post at all myself.

But - unusually - I did make a special trip for this one, so it needs to go in the records.

I have seen this view of the Minster from the A1237 several times when driving but never stopped because I am always going somewhere and already late, or with people or ... So today I decided to drive there on my own with nothing better to do. Unfortunately, it turns out that the view from that road has some telephone wires cutting across it. But I drove on and found a better view. Still didn't have a long enough lens for this sort of shot, so 'tis a poor thing I have ended up with.

You can, however, see why those whose tithes paid for the edifice were happy to pass a law restricting the height of buildings in the city to ensure it would remain visible from a distance for centuries to come.

Contemporary taxpayers are less enthusiastic about the round structure, but I guess we have all been on it some time.
