Luckily it is not a hostile invasion by flying saucers, just the Clacton VOR/DME.
If you are really interested in such matters, it's location is 515055N 0010851E at 100ft above mean sea level. It transmits on channel 92Y (114.55 MHz).
But of course, if you're not an airline pilot en route for Stansted, Luton, London City or Heathrow, then you probably won't be needing this info! These VOR navigation aids are to be found all over the UK and in fact all around the world, and have been providing pilots with a navigational aid for decades.
However, their days are numbered. I would take a guess that they will not be replaced when their working life is up as most aircraft now have onboard GPS aids, which are more accurate.
