Sunday stroll
We took a drive to Edinburgh and parked in Stockbridge outside an empty townhouse that is being, or has just been, renovated. I need to check my savings before putting in an offer as I'm not sure I've got quite £1.5 million in the piggy bank just yet.
From there we wandered down to Inverleith Park, past the Grange where a cricket match was in full swing and a bunch of cheapos watched over the wall instead of paying to get in, and on past the pond to see the wildlife. Unfortunately a bunch of anoraks with a collective age of around two thousand, but collective mental age of seven, were there with their model speedboats and seemed to take great joy in making them go really fast in circles around the pond and only just missing the swans and ducks. Never before have I seen such a void of intelligence in such a large group of creatures, and all in one place. I was almost praying for the Andy Capp lookalike teetering on the edge of the pond to spray the path with his trainset on water while we were walking past, just so I could push the old git in the water.
We wandered round the park to much quieter parts and on past another, amateur, cricket match and a "masters" football match. From there it was on to the Royal Botanic Gardens for a look around. The picture here is of The Glasshouse, which is one of the indoor areas housing some of the more exotic species of plant found in the gardens.
We finished the day by heading back down to Stockbridge for dinner at Pizza Express and a couple of Peroni Gran Reservas.
