Old Fishmarket Close

I am a taxi driver up to The Royal Mile again-see yesterdays photo. So more photo opportunities.
This is the entrance to Old Fishmarket Close which leads down to The Cowgate. It was once 'a steep, narrow stinking ravine'-lovely! Looks like there might be some old fish down there today.............
The Royal Mile has over 70 Closes-which makes a map of The Mile look like the backbone of a fish. I always think that visitors forget to come off The Royal Mile, and miss the many treasures to be found along some of the closes. Theres are many hidden gardens which I am always keen to locate. Patrick Geddes created children's gardens all along The Mile-some of which can still be located.
